Google satellite images of the excavations at Wilting clearly show the Roman and Saxon ditches that formed the original Burgh of Hastings. There is no conceivable explanation for the extensive network of ditches and walls on this site which I have marked in red on one image and left the other clear. However if you really want to see the evidence in close up you can see it in Google Earth if you have it on your computer by clicking this link (which only works if Google Earth is installed). You will be amazed at what you can see and there is no hiding what is there:
